BLACK PRINCE (Thurlow, 1915) - Single - Red - Midseason. Medium height. Fragrance, not plecisin Large, long cupped petals, irregularly arranged, deep crimson with a dull, satin sheen, center small, stamens reddish at base, tipped yellow; carpels green with prominend whit base and tips; floriferous; stiff stems. Excellent foliage. The erect habit of the plan is well adapted to garden decoration. The lateral buds give a continuation of bloom for two weeks or more and petals hold their color until they fall. Midseason.
BLACK WARRIOR (Nicholls, 1941) - Double - Red - Midseason. Medium height. Red-black in colcr; no stamens show; medium size. Of better shape and darker than MONS. MARTIN CAHUZAC. Strong stems. No. 3 from MONS. MARTIN CAHUZAC. Bulletin 83.
BLANCHE CIRE (Dessert, 1908) - Double - White - DISCARDED. Midseason.
BLANCHE ELIE (Brethour, 1934) - Double - White - Midseason. Tall. Fragrant. White guards, pale yellow collar turning white. Often shows red markings. A very fine flower. This is very similar in form to MONS. JULES ELIE. Strong grower, large bomb type. Center white with creamy tings. Bulletin 56.
BLANCHE KING (Brand, 1922) - Double - Pink - Late Midseason. Medium tall. Very large. Globular with large, overlapping, incurved petals; glistening dark pink with a silvery sheen. Upright habit and strong stems. Rich, dark green foliage. Midseason.
BLAZING STAR (Auten, 1937) - Semi-double - Red. Very brilliant dark red which holds its color. Medium size blooms sure to open. Bulletin 69.
BLONDE (Dana, 1926) - Double - Pink. Rather dwarf plant. Fragrant. A light pink, bicolored pink and cream. Good stem. Bomb type. Bulletin 28.
BLOODSTONE (Kelway, 1926) - Single - Purple Red - Midseason.
BLUE BIRD (Kelway) - Double - Violet - (Manual) Japanese. Bulletin 79, Page 12.
BLUSH (Nicholls, 1941) - Double - Pink - Midseason. Medium height. Here is a peony that is unusually attractive and appealing to the eye. The delicate flush coloring greatly adds to its effectiveness when used in flower arrangements. Flower medium size, hold stiff and erect on wiry stems. Colors hold well. Of rose shape. Wide petals. Pink deeper than Walter Faxon and almost as pure a color. Seedling from OTHELLO . Catalog & Bulletin 83.
BLUSHING BEAUTY (Franklin, 1931) - Double - Pink - Late. 36" tall. Fragrant. Large full rose-type, pale pink with good stems. A good grower and free bloomer. Bulletin 47.
BLUSHING BEAUTY (Neeley, 1936) - Double - White - Late. Ivory lilac white. List in Bulletin 91.
BLUSHING BRIDE (Gumin, 1930) - Single - Blush - Early. Large. List in Bulletin 91.
BLUSHING BRIDE (Pfeiffer, 1932)-Single-Pink-Early. Excellent flesh pink. List in Bulletin 91.
BLUSH QUEEN (Hoogendoorn, 1949) - Double - White - Midseason. 3 to 3-1/2" tall. Fragrant. Lovely creamy white, very slightly tinted rose, blooms large 8-10". Foliage normal green. Free flowering and good constitution. Bulletin 115.
BOADICEA or BOADECIA (Origin unknown) - Double - White - Midseason.
BOBBIE BEE (Hollis, 1907) - Japanese - Carmine. In Bulletin 79, Page 12, it is spelled BOBBY BEE. Midseason.
BOBBY ANN MILLER (Home Garden Co., about 1937) - Japanese - Pink - Midseason. A deep pink that is quite attractive. It is almost an anemone type. List in Bulletin 91.
BONANZA (Franklin, 1947) - Double - Red - Midseason. Globular, brilliant, dark red double. Very few stamens. Upright grower, good stems. Bulletin 107.
BONFIRE (Auten, 1956) - Double - Red - Very early. Tall. Dark red bomb showing some of the color of one of its parents, Radiant Red. Trim bloom on tall, stiff stems. Letter from Mr. Auten, April, 1956. Auten's 1956 catalog.
BONNIE BECKER (Sass, 1942) - Double - Pink - Late. Medium height. This is a large, rose-type, medium pink with deeper pink in the center of the bloom. Strong stems of medium height. Nice foliage. A very late bloomer. Bulletin 87.
BONNIE JEAN (Richmond, 1952) - Double - Light Pink - Late Midseason. Tall. Light pink, showing stamens in center. Fades to blush in center. All large petals; centers slightly cupped. Very good form. Strong stems. Rose form. Richmond's letter, 1955.

BONNIE WINSLOW (Winslow, 1951) - Double - Pink - Midseason. Tall. Mild fragrance. Light rose pink. Broad guard petals of sparkling pink or light rose, inner petals narrower and incurved, silvered with pink. Tall, strong stems, medium to light green foliage. Substance good. As the flower expands the central petals increase in size, but retain the same general shape. It resembles Mons. Jules Elie in size, shape and color but blooms a few days later. Bulletin 123.
BONO (Origin unknown) - Double - Pink - Midseason.
BO-PEEP (Auten, 1944) - Japanese - Pink. Tall. Medium sized orchid pink Japanese on a tall stiff stemmed vigorous plant. Date from Mr. Auten's letter. Auten catalog.
BORDEAUX (Saunders, 1943) - Single - Red. Large claret single; huge center of yellow stamens and petaloids. Showy. Albiflora x officinalis. Lists in Bulletins 91 and 129.
BORDER GEM (Hoogendoorn, 1949) - Double - Red - Early. Height, about 28". Distinct compact, bushy grower, rather dwarf. Flowers double. Medium size (8"). Outer petals shrimp red HCC 161/3), inner petals chartreuse green (HCC 663/3). Foliage dark green. A real gem for the flower border. Bulletin 115.
BOULE BLANCHE (Crousse, 1892) - Double - White - DISCARDED - Midseason.
BOULE de NEIGE (Calot, 1867) - Double - White- Early Midseason. Tall. Raw and pungent odor. Large, cupped outer petals surrounding a fluffy center of mixed narrow petals and stamens. White with a yellow suffusion and very prominent crimson flecks on the guards and on a ring of short thick petals near the center. Floriferous; strong stems. Heavy dark foliage. Blooms immediately after Festima Maxima and somewhat resemble it. It is closer to Mons. Dupont in appearance although its red markings are much more conspicuous. M.
