IDA PLEAS (Pleas) - Single - No data. M.

IDEAL (Franklin, 1931) - Double - Pink - Late. 34" in height. Fragrant. Very large full rose type, dark pink. Stiff stems with good foliage. A real acquisition to dark peonies. Bulletin 47.

IKUENOYUKI (Japan) - Listed by Krekler, 1955. Mr. Peyton says a Smirnow importation from Japan.

ILLINI (Auten, 1931) - Single - Black Red - DISCARDED. Bulletin 47 - List in 91.

ILLINI BELLE (Glasscock, 1941) - Semi-Double - Red - Early - Hybrid. Four or five rows of brilliant, dark red rounded petals, yellow stamens, carpels green, tipped red. Albiflora x officinalis. Bulletin 83, list in 91.

ILLINI CHIEF (Glasscock, 1940) - Single - Orange Red - Early - Hybrid. Albiflora x officinalis. Lists in Bulletins 91 and 129.

ILLINI WARRIOR (Glasscock-Falk, 1955) - Single - Red - Early. Very tall. Brilliant red. Rugged plant. Parentage unknown. Hybrid seedling. Shown by Mrs. Falk among her hybrids. See Bulletin 135, page 6. Bulletin 138.

ILLUSTRIOUS (Brown, 1952) - Double - Pink. Height 40". A very fine medium pink. The strong stems hold the large flowers erect and well above the foliage in all kinds of weather. Very free flowering and long lasting. Brown's Peony Gardens - 1955.

IMPERATOR (Introduced from Holland) - Double - Rose-Red - Bulletin 68, page 20.

IMPERIAL PINK (Sass, 1932) Name changed to IMPERIAL RED. Single-Pink. Bulletin 49-List in 91.

IMPERIAL QUEEN (Wallace) - Japanese - M.

IMPERIAL RED (Sass, 1932) First named IMPERIAL PINK. Single - Red - Midseason. Tall. Brilliant dark red. Large flowers on tall stems. Bulletin 49 - List in 91.

INCA (Nicholls, 1941) - Single - Scarlet Rose. Tall. Large, bright scarlet rose. Double row of petals. Stamens and carpels yellow. (#201 from MIKADO) Bulletin 83.

INCA DEITY (McMurry, 1937) - Semi-Double - White - Early. Medium height. Pure white guard petals with a center of pollen bearing stamens and occasional white feathers or plumes in the flower. It blooms early and the flower is large. It lasts well as a cut flower. The foliage is light green, medium sized, stems strong. Bulletin 127.

INDIANA MOON (Rosenfield, 1933) - Double - Pink. Tall. Bomb type, perfect form. Clear pink. Upright and excellent bloomer. Bulletin 56 - List 91.

INDIAN HILL  (Glasscock, 1950) - Double - Red - Very early - Hybrid. Medium height. Bomb type, black red; stiff, upright stems. Medium size. Bulletin 116 - List in 129. Otto Froebel x albiflora.

INDIAN MAID (Dana, 1926) - Red - Midseason to Late. Fragrant. A deep shade of red. Exquisite in bud, stiff stems and fine habit. Flower not large but very distinctive. The shade of red is peculiar, has a tint of bright mahogany. New in peony coloring. Bulletin 28.

INEZ T. BURKETT (Richmond) - Single - White - Early Midseason. Large. Richmond's 1952 catalog and 1955 list.

INGENIEUR DORIAT (Doriat) - Double - Carmine-Red. Listed in Wild 1947 catalog. List in Bulletin 91.

IN MEMORIAM (Brethour, 1923) - Double - Pink - Midseason. Very pleasant perfume. Large flower, flesh fading to opalescent pink with a wide ring of red surrounding the center. Very strong grower in big clusters. Excellent cut variety. Bulletin 37 - List in 91.

INNOCENCE (Hollis, 1904) - Jap. - Pink - Late Midseason. Tall. Poor fragrance. Medium size. Light old-rose guards, center canary-yellow fading to creamy white. Free-flowering; good stems and foliage. Good for garden decoration because of its strong stems and the well-contrasted colors of its flowers, although it is not very distinct. M.

INSPECTEUR LAVERGNE (Doriat, 1924) - Double - Red - Midseason to late midseason. Long stems. Globular crimson flower with frilled petals in the center. Straight stems. A very brilliant red with some brown in it, that resembles FELIX CROUSSE in form and habit. List in Bulletin 60. M. says early. Mr. Wild says M to LM.

INSTITUTEUR DORIAT (Doriat, 1925) - Jap. - Red - Midseason. Color a fine red and each petal tip is tinted white, making a very novel effect as well as pleasing combination of color. Catalogs. M.

IOLA PINK (Kelsey, 1937) - Double - Pink - Midseason. Medium height. Medium pink globular flower on the order of Modeate Guerin. Wild -955 catalog. List.

IRENE COE (Pfeiffer, 1932) - Double - Flesh Pink - Midseason. List in Bulletin 91.

IRENE JONES (Franklin, 1946) - Double - Red - Midseason. Rose type dark red, similar to Philippe Rivoire but earlier. Strong grower and good bloomer. Bulletin 107.

IRMA (Calot, 1859) - Double - Rose, cream center - DISCARDED - M.

IRMA URBAN (Richmond) - Single - Rose-Pink - Midseason. Richmond's 1952 catalog and 1955 list.

IROKA (Millet) - Jap. - Blush-White - M.

IROQUOIS (Auten, 1931) - Jap. - Red - DISCARDED. A medium dark red Jap, golden edges on petaloids. Bulletin 47 - List 91.

IRRESISTIBLE (Lyman, 1942) - Semi-Double - Flesh-pink to white. Flesh pink warming to white. Very beautiful, golden collars. List in Bulletin 93.

IRVING FLINT (Kelsey, 1935) - Double - Pink - Late Midseason. Richly fragrant. Lovely. Resembles LE CYGNE in form. Medium size bloom. Light green foliage. Holds form and color remarkably well. Rich both in color and odor. Bulletin 80 says large bloom. Midseason. Bulletin 80 - List in 109.

IRWIN ALTMAN (Kelsey, 1940) - Double - Red - Midseason. Very fragrant. A very fine, clear glowing light red unlike any other red. Good form and pleasing color, full double with petals symmetrically arranged. Color is very distinctive in formation and most desirable List in Bulletin 109.
