CAMPFIRE (Auten, 1956) - Double - Red - Midseason. Dwarf plant. Fragrant. Brilliant red bomb. Medium size on dwarf plant with stiff stems. A seedling of old EDULIS SUPERBA, which evidently responded to a fortunate cross pollenization. Outstanding for garden effect. Letter from Mr. Auten. April, 1956. Auten 1956 Catalog.
CANARI (Guerin, 1861) - Double - White - Late Midseason - DISCARDED. Tall. Fragrant. Outer petals cream white, yellowish cream in center, very nice and attractive. Guards barely tinted flesh, center suphur white, becoming pure white; large; bomb type. Catalogs & M.
CANDEUR (Dessert, 1920) - Double - Pink - Late Midseason. Tall. Fragrance faint. Large; outer petals large, cupped, light rose-pink flushed darker outside, surrounding a collar of shredded petals and stamens and an incurved center bearing red streaks on occasional petals; vigorous, moderately floriferous. Bright green foliage. Color rather flat and opaque, becoming delicate as the flower develops. Excellent texture of rather fragile appearance. Midseason.
CANDIDISSIMA (Calot, 1856) - Double - White - DISCARDED. 1930 Wild catalog: Guard petals pure white deepening to a pale yellow in the center. A good early white. Midseason.
CANDLELIGHT (Saunders, 1950) - Single - Golden Ivory - Hybrid. Quadruple hybrid; albiflora, officinalis, macrophylla, Mlokosewitschi. List in Bulletin 129.
CAPITULATION (Brethour, 1939) - Double - White - Midseason. Medium height. White guards, yellow collar, a good near yellow. Full double globular bloom similar to Primevere. Wide guard petals of blush white, with a collar of golden yellow smaller petals which hold their color well. Stems excellent and medium height. One of the best of the so-called yellows. Catalogs. CAPRICCIO (Lyman, 1939) - Japanese - Pink - Late. Formerly FANTASIA. Pale pink guards turning cream with age, staminodes cream, yellow and gold. Blossoms large and levely; some plants produce a "feather" or two touched with red or pink in the blossoms. Strong and good form. Bulletin 81. Lists in Bulletins 91 and 93.

CAPTAIN CHEAPE (Kelway) - Double - Pink - Midseason.
CAPTAIN J (Jones, 1937) - Formerly PINK GLORY - Single - Dark Pink - Early Midseason. Tall. Very brilliant red pink or rosy red. Tall and showy. Veritable plate-size single blooms of dark pink with dazzling ye-low center. Fairly a riot of blooms the individual plant. Striking variety for landscape use as the large blooms are carried by straight strong stems four feet tall. List in Bulletin 91. Bulletin 71. Note: PINK GLORY is not registered (C.B.2000)
CAPTAIN KIDD (Auten, 1934) - Semi-Double - Red. Tall. Rich dark red. Large bloom showing very few stamens. Fairly good stem. Withstood temperature of 104 degrees much better than the old reds. Very outstanding in the field. List in Bulletin 61. Bulletin 58.
CARBONDALE (Schneider) Probably since 1933. Double - Pink - Midseason. Medium size. Deep rose pink. List in Bulletin 91.
CARDINAL (Glasscock) - Single - Bright Red - Early. Hybrid. Albiflora x officinalis. Lists in Bulletins 91 and 129.
CARDINAL (Gumm) - Double - Red - Midseason. Wassenberg 1955 Catalog. List in Bulletin 91.
CARDINAL'S ROBE (Saunders, 1940) - Single - Red. Shining scarlet. Very striking color. Albiflora x lobata. Lists in Bulletins 91 and 129.
CARILLON (Richmond, 1951) - Double - Rose Pink - Late Midseason. Tall. Deep rose pink. Large flowers with crisp petalage. Tall, strong stems, dark green foliage. The laterals bloom freely and one stem makes a bouquet. Free blooming. Bulletin 130.
CARINA (Saunders, 1944) - Semi-Double - Red. Hybrid. Shining scarlet. Albiflora x lobata. List in Bulletin 129.
CARLOTTA GRISI (Calot, 1856) - Double - Pink - DISCARDED. Midseason.
CARMEN (Lemoine, 1898) - Double - Pink - DISCARDED. Midseason.
CARMEN SYLVA (Kelway) - Single - White Shaded to Pink. Midseason.
CARNATION (Jones, 1943) - Japanese - Pink - Midseason. Anemone type. Guards and petaloids self-colored carnation pink, center tipped lighter. This name is used for a double still in commerce. List in Bulletin 91.
