BEACON HILL (Auten, 1937) - Single - Red - Early. Very early dark red single, large bloom on tall stiff stems, one of the earliest to bloom. Officinalis x albiflora. Bulletin 69. List in Bulletin 129.

BEACON LIGHT (Wettengel, 1924) - Japanese - Carmine - Midseason.

BEATRICE A. CARTWRIGHT (Brethour) - Double - Pink - Midseason. Medium height. Fully double. A very pleasing light pink of good size. Strong sturdy stems. Wild's catalog.

BEATRICE KELWAY (Kelway) - Japanese - White - Discarded - Midseason.

BEAUMARCHAIS (Lemoine, 1922) - Double - Pink - Late. Tall. Large, pink-flesh-mauve with overlapping petals. Midseason.

BEAUTE FRANCAISE (Guerin, 1850) - Double - Rose - Midseason - DISCARDED. Compact crown, pale lilac, rose and cream white; midseason. (Taken from 1930 Wild catalog).

BELLA DONNA (Nieuwenhuizen, 1935) - Double - Pink. Light mauve pink, opening perfectly to a uniform ethereal pink, some petals slightly edged carmine. Fine form and bud. Rose type. When fully open, stamens only show their golden glow in the inner petals. Bulletin 61.

BELLE (Glasscock, 1931) - Double - Shell Pink - Late to very late. Pleasant fragrance. Very large rose type. Form of bud, round. Long stiff stems. Foliage, broad, dark green. Bulletin 46.

BELLE CHINOISE (Auten, 1935) - Double - White - Late Midseason. Medium height. Rose fragrance. Immaculate white double with loose petalage; stiff stems. An exquisite peony. Near to bomb type. Sure to open. Bulletin 61.

BELLE DOUAISIENNE (Calot, 1861) - Double - Pink - Midseason - DISCARDED. Fragrant. Large globular flower, color hydrangea-pink, center prominently flecked with crimson. Midseason.

BELLE HOUGH (Terry) - Double - Pink - Midseason.

BELLE MAUVE (Lemoine, 1903) - Double - Rose - DISCARDED - Midseason.

BELOVED (Lanigan, 1928) Semi-double - Creamy White - DISCARDED. Bulletin 36 List in Bulletin 91.

BEN COFELD (Kelsey, 1934) - Double - Pink - Midseason. Like MONS. JULES ELIE; very large petals, closely packed and set in edgeways. Almost ball-shaped. Heavy stems. Shorter outer petals. List in Bulletin 109.

BEN FRANKLIN (Brand, 1907) - Double - Red. See BEN FRANKLIN- Midseason.

BEN HABERMAN (Sass, 1941) - Double - Deep Pink - Midseason. 34" tall. Large spreading flowers of a bright deep pink color. Straight, upright stems with one or two flowers only. Bulletin 83.

BENJAMIN FRANKLIN (Brand, 1907) - Double - Red - Midseason. Very tall. Faint fragrance. Medium size. Dark crimson, outer petals large and the center composed of smaller overlapping petals mixed with many stamens. Vigorous and free-flowering; blooms held high above the compact foliage on wiry stems. A good red peony with undeniable value for landscaping effect. Not very imposing as a cut flower becuase of its small size.

BERANGER (Dessert, 1895) - Double - Rose - DISCARDED - Midseason.

BERLIOZ (Crousse, 1886) - Double - Red - Dark Pink - DISCARDED. Listed in L. D.BAKER PEONY & IRIS FARMS catalog, 1955, (Kendalville, Ind.) Franklin's 1955 catalog lists it Dark Pink. Double. Pink. Light carmine-rose, tipped silver. Midseason.

BERNARDINE (Kelway, 1908) - Double - Crimson - Midseason.

BERNARD PALISSY (Crousse, 1897) - Double - Rose - DISCARDED - Midseason.

BERTHA (Terry, 1910) - Double - Red - Midseason.

BERTHA BARR (Richmond, 1953) - Double - Light Pink to White - Midseason. Medium height. Light pink with lavender shading, paling to white at edges. Fully double, rose type. Very strong stems. Richmond's letter, 1955.

BERTRADE (Lemoine, 1909) - Double - White - Late Midseason. Moderate height. Unpleasant odor. Very large, rounded, incurved white bloom, shaded yellow at base of petals, with many stamens mixed in collar, and the center petals occasionally have a reddish tinge at edges; stems stiff. Foliage good. Of moderate floriferousness. The flower is very regular and handsome, developing a symmetrical crown when fully open. Midseason.

BERT SHAYLOR (Allison) - Double - Pink - Late Midseason. Never introduced by Shaylor. Good sized flowers, fine stems. Good medium pink. Vigorous. List in Bulletin 91.

BERYLN CROCKETT (Nicholls-Wild, 1954) - Double - White - Midseason. Medium height. Large globular white with good stems. It has much the form of Mons. Jules Elie. It does not usually show its carpels when fully open. It is named for Beryl Crockett of Fort Smith, Arkansas, who chose it from several hundred seedlings. Bulletin 132.

BESS BOCKSTOCE (Bockstoce, 1955) - Double - Light Pink - Early - Hybrid. Medium height. Good stems. A cross of an officinalis with albiflora on a 1F single red with an albiflora double white or pink. Bulletin 136
