27.1.2005 Endlich geschafft! Insgesamt 357 Bilder von Ken Clare aus Canada sind eingearbeitet, dabei viele von Sorten, die bisher nicht bebildert waren und viele, wo ich bisher keine guten Bilder hatte. 16.01.2005 Grade habe ich gestern diese Frühlingsbilder gemacht, da erwischt uns eine eiskalte Nacht mit -8,5°C Just right after my spring-euphoric pictures we were hit by a cold night, with temps down to -8.5°C.

16.01.2005 Hi Carsten; I am attaching the pics of the peony californica where I collected the seeds. They are starting to bloom. The plants are beautiful. The one pictured is about 18 inches tall and about 24 inches in diameter. The flowers for this species are quite small and smell like licorice. They do not open all the way except for some flowers, but not ingeneral. Enjoy and you can use the pics for your web site if you desire. Jim Obermeyer

Also, in 2004 another of M. Ménard's peonies was registered - Adrienne Clarkson. I imagine you saw the registration in the APS bulletin. I have also attached a picture for you to use as you like. 15.01.2005   Es ist Frühling! Oder jedenfalls macht es einen die Natur glauben – ein paar Impressionen aus dem Garten von heute Spring is here! Or at least the nature makes us thinking its already time for it. Some impressions from my garden today.

15.01.2005   Knospenstudie – ein paar Bilder von meinen Schätzen im Januar. Ich werde versuchen, die gleichen Pflanzen im Laufe des Jahres immer wieder zu photographieren. Vielleicht kann mandamit ein paar Fehllieferungen aufdecken (was ich nicht hoffe) bzw. ein paar Unbekannte identifizieren (besonders sp. Shengnongjia und sp. Zhengping liegen mir am Herzen). Es ist viel dazugekommen zu meiner Sammlung. Nach 18 Monaten Bodenvorbereitung sind meine beiden Parzellen jetzt bepflanzt worden. Insgesamt 1600 Pflanzen habe ich gekauft, davon allerdings auch viele kleine Veredelungen, wo ich immer eine größere Menge zum Verkauf habe, und mir nur ein-zwei behalten werde. Aber am interessantesten sidn die vielen neuen Wildarten, die ich aus allen Ecken Chinas bekommen habe, insgesamt 9x trafen diese Saison Pakete mit Strauchpfingstrosen aus China ein. 2004 war in dieser Hinsicht ein sehr gutes Jahr, das beste bisher. Zu den Bildern geht's hier. Bud-study. I have made pictures some of my most inetersting plants in the garden today. I will try to repeat this procedure during the year for several times. Maybe it helps to identify some unknown plants and maybe some wrongly named ones too (I hope only few of the latter). I have been able to add many plants to my collection. After 18 months of preparing the soil for the peonies I have planted this season all what I could get. Altogether I have bought more than 1600 peonies this season, but a large proportion of these is for sale. The most interesting for me are all the different wild species, which I could get from all parts of China. I have got 9 times parcels (smaller or bigger ones) with tree peonies from China. In this respect it was a very succesful season – the most succesful I ever had. See the pictures here.
