vories, laurence A., was born in St. Joseph, Missouri. He has served in several public offices and has been judge of the Circuit Court of Buchanan County, Missouri since 1916. Judge Vories planted his first seedlings after 1908 and first exhibited them at the National Show of the American Peony Society at Des Moines, Iowa. His seedlings have won prize awards at Des Moines, Philadelphia, and Peoria, Illinois.

ALEXANDER D. VORIES (1924) - Double. American Beauty shade of red.

BISHOP BURKE (1925) - Double, crimson.

DEEDIE MAY (1927) - Double, early pink.

EVELYN S. PIERCE (1937) - Double, midseason. A unique flower of several rows of medium rose pink guard petals white at the center and yellow at the base. There are few if any stamens. The flower is a perfect cup. Stigmas pink. Formerly called just EVELYN.

EVELYN VORIES (1935) - Double, midseason. Medium pink with strong stems.

FRANKIE CURTIS (1924) - Double, midseason. Blush, white guards.

HENRY M. VORIES (1924) - Double, late pink.

LADY KATE (1924) - Double, late pink.

LARGO (1929) - Jap, late midseason. Very soft medium pink guards. Yellow staminodes.

LAURA VORIES (1924) - Double, late midseason. Blush.

MABEL L. GORE (1937) - Double, late midseason. Very large red pink or rosy red. Showy.

MARY B. VORIES (1924) - Double, midseason. Large creamy white. Fragrant. Excellent.

MRS. R. M. BACHELLER (1930) - Large cup of creamy pink. Fragrant. F.C.C.

NAN KEEN (1942) - Double, midseason. Tall light rose pink. Conical shape.

NANCY DOLMAN (1924) - Double late spring.

PITTI SINN (1924) - Double, late pink.

ROBERT LEE DAVIS (1924) - Large light salmon pink. Good.

SARAH M. NAPIER (1930) - Double, late midseason. Very deep rose pink shading to almost white. Very striking.
