The author describes 2 new species in the genus Paeonia L. from Kartli. At one of them— P. Majko Ketzch., is a species with broad leaf segments and large flowerheads, the author suggests a hybrid origin between P. caucasica N. Schip. and P. tenuifolia L. In present time this species shows a tendency/capacity to reproduction.

More common in eastern Georgia is the species P. karthalinica Ketzch., which is closely related to P. tenuifolia L. , under this name the plant is recognised in the „Flora of Georgia“. Together with it grows in the pre-mountains of Kartli and in the Shirakskaja Nagora the typical P. tenuifolia L., which is restricted to steppe regions; in contrast to this P. karthalinica Ketzch. is more characteristical for beechforests and shrubby scrub.
