Paeonia 'Athol'

type:

[tree peony] – [lutea hybrid]

origination:

Chow

Athol. Chow. Unregistered. (Seidl #112 x Rosalind Elsie Franklin). Advanced generation lutea hybrid. Grown from seed sent to Australia in the 1990's by Bill Seidl. Semi-double to double light red to deep pink. Flowers have good substance and are carried outward on somewhat long stems that lean. A beautiful flower and reliable bloomer. This is a Bernard Chow (Australia) seedling that has been distributed without American Peony Society registration. Athol is a lower growing plant in Wisconsin (3 feet) and makes a rounded shrub. Fertile pollen, but seeds are difficult to date. Very good.
