Peonies, The Manual of the American Peony Society, edited by James Boyd © 1928 American Peony Society: [Descriptive List of Chinese Peonies] EVENING GLOW. (Hollis, 1907.) 8.3. Semi-double type; large; early. Light shell-pink, paling to white and pale old-rose; fragrance not notable. Tall; floriferous; erect stems. Average foliage. Not well known and listed in very few catalogues. It is a question whether it deserves its rating. "Evening Glow is confused in commerce. This is the description of the true variety, but a great share of the growers' stocks are of a tall, strong-growing peony of deep mauve-pink. The present rating is undoubtedly based mostly on the false variety."Little. |
