Cang Zhi Hong. Crown form. Flowers 16cm x 7cm, purplish red (53-B), lustrous; the outer petals 2-3 -whorled, slightly large, stiff, suffused with dark purple at the base; the inner petals wrinkled, regular, crowded, a few stamens grow among the petals; pistils small or developed, petaloid, greenish coloured. Stalks slender, short, flowers hidden among the leaves. Flowering very early. Plant dwarf, spreading. Branches slender, stiff. Leaves orbicular, medium-sized, relatively crowded; leaflets ovate, obtuse at the apex, the margins slightly curved upwards, upper surface rough, deep green, suffused with deep purple. Growth vigorous, flowers many; tolerant of diseases. Bred by Zhaolou Peony Garden, Heze in 1963.
