Paeonia 'Mei Gui Zi'

Mei Gui Zi. Rose form. Flowers 16cm x 6cm, purple (71-D); petals multi-whorled, stiff, light coloured at the apex, dark purple basal blotches; stamens partially petaloid, small. Stalks stiff, flowers upright. Flowering late midseason. Plant tall, erect. Branches relatively stout. Leaves long, medium- sized, sparse; leaflets long ovate or lanceolate, apex acuminate, the margins curved upwards, upper surface suffused with greenish purple. Growth vigorous, flowers many; not tolerant of leaf spot, leaves falling early. Bred by Zhaolou Peony Garden, Heze in 1965.
