Burkhardt (2000): |
This plant developed in the third year very quickly, made 7 strong stems with several flower buds. It bloomed first in 2000 and made some weeks after the first bloom a secondary flower in July, some weeks after all other tree peonies. On the peony-symposium in Fuerth (May 2000) Mr. Hertle referred to this cultivar as 'the strongest growing of all Saunders-Peonies', 3 meter broad x 1.5 meter in hight. As the place were it was planted was too few, I give my plant a new, better place in September 2000. |

after the moving & dividing of the plant in September 2000, it failed to bloom in 2001 |

Hesperus. Saunders. 1948. F1 lutea hybrid. Single old rose pink with yellow undertones and deep pink veins. A lovely flower and excellent plant. Stem hardiness is very good for an F1 hybrid and blooms are carried well above foliage or to the side. Some seed fertility noted. Plants are good upright growers. Foliage is finely cut. Parentage unknown. Rarely available. |
