Jim Langhammer on y!groups #948

'Cleopatra' is a red double that the Wild Peony Farms listed for years but as I recall lost to rot in "wet fields" several decades ago. Its value is its extraordinary lateness, blooming with those lingering whites like 'Elsa Sass'. I finally tracked it down but "barely"! The only grower I could find had had a disaster when local road crews sprayed his peonies with herbicide. He shared one of his few remaining plants of 'Cleopatra' with me. Makes a great bouquet with the whites. Jim Langhammer
