Brothers:

Vesuvian Saunders 1948 ML 2x2' Fr Dbl, One of the longest blooming Lutea Hybrids, this deep dark black red double with dramatic purple undertones, grows on a perfectly rounded dwarf bush. A 15 year old plant is still well under my knee. The buds appear with their sharply pointed tips looking like a relative of the hybrid tea rose. The foliage is sharply cut and with the beautiful fall coloration makes a season long statement. Very vigorous.

Vesuvian. Saunders. 1948. F1 lutea hybrid. Dark semi-double to double red. Outer petals open flat and inner wavy petals are grouped closely and face forward. Red stigmas, sheath and stamens. Flowers and plants are much like Age of Gold, perhaps more of a mound type structure. No fertility. Beautiful and high degree of bloom. Blooms do hang down on an angle, but are produced on long enough stems to be easily seen and appreciated. No fertility. Parentage unknown. Excellent and easy grower.
